THE TENNIS GALLERY STORY
The Tennis Gallery Wimbledon was founded by Richard and Chris Jones. The gallery began trading in the mid 1990s at UK tennis tournaments and Davis Cup ties, with the aim of providing a friendly one-stop shop for tennis fans. In the early days the emphasis was mainly on books, but over the years the range was expanded to include art, films, collectables and gifts. In 1999 the gallery moved into its first permanent shop at 114 Arthur Road in Wimbledon Park, just 20 minutes walk from the All England Lawn Tennis Club. These tiny premises became a home from home for tennis fans from all over the world, and the visitor's book soon became a veritable Who's Who of international tennis. Friendships were formed with players, coaches, journalists, broadcasters and fans, and today our free twice-yearly magazine What's New in Tennis is sent to over 8000 people worldwide. The gallery also publishes tennis posters and postcards, and was sole supplier to the Wimbledon Lawn Tennis Museum Shop from 1997 to 2002. The Gallery moved to its current larger premises in 2007, where we are able to house our extensive range on the ground floor whilst our upstairs room houses our tennis archive which is available for use by authors and researchers.
